We’re excited to share that our client, Karen Arthur, has been longlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize for her debut picture book Grandma’s Locs.

The Klaus Flugge Prize, now in its 10th year, recognises outstanding new illustrators in children’s publishing. Grandma’s Locs, illustrated by Camilla Ru and published by Tate Publishing, is a celebration of Black hair, heritage, and family connections.

Karen’s book introduces young readers to the beauty of natural Black hair and the cultural significance of locs through engaging storytelling and vibrant illustrations. This longlisting highlights the importance of inclusive stories and representation in children’s books.

Karen Arthur is well-known for her work as a broadcaster, menopause advocate, and speaker, and now adds author to her list of achievements.

We’re proud of Karen and look forward to seeing what’s next!
